Precious metals
At MDTdesign we use 18ct white, yellow and rose gold as well as platinum. In terms of colour, weight and longevity there are great differences between white gold and platinum. We can explain the advantages and disadvantages of each metal and show you the differences in store. Our 18ct gold is stamped with 750 meaning that it is 75% pure gold with the remaining percentage being made up of different metals to make it stronger, durable and more workable. Our platinum is stamped with 950 meaning that it is 95% pure platinum.

The raw colour of all white gold including the palladium-based white gold the MDTdesign uses is grey. All 18ct gold is plated with a solution called rhodium, which brings the gold to a brighter, whiter coloured finish very similar to that of platinum. Over time the rhodium plating does wear back to show a slight grey shade. As with all products purchased with MDTdesign we provide a lifetime service, so simply bring your jewellery in and we will repeat the process to restore your ring’s finish at no extra cost. The Rhodium plating normally lasts around 8-12months and as companies can charge an average AUD $90 for this services it all begins to add up.

We do not charge our clients for this service on any jewellery purchased with MDTdesign.
